What to look for in an adult foster home

Walk the real house. Look at the bedroom that would be used, the bathroom grab bars, and how a wheelchair would turn in the hall. Ask who is in the home at night, how medications are handled, and how the provider talks with clinics. In Oregon, confirm the home on the public licensing site and ask which class of license it holds.

Medicaid and adult foster care in Oregon

Many residents use Medicaid to help pay for adult foster home services after an assessment. Private-pay families pay the home directly. Coverage and rates depend on the person’s assessed needs and the current state rules. Call Timberlight Haven about whether a Medicaid or private-pay bed is open, then work with the case manager on eligibility.
